General Information for Membership Applicants
General Membership Information.
The Club's protocols for new membership applications are as follows:
- Any person applying for membership of RCC must provide letters of reference from both a proposer and seconder (referees).
- Both of these referees must be active members of RCC and they must have been members of the Club for at least the past two years.
- Your proposer will submit the two letters of reference, along with the appropriate application form to me, the Honorary Secretary.
- Your application will be presented at the next General Committee meeting.
- A meeting with the General Committee may be arranged at a time and venue suitable for both parties.
We will subsequently inform you of the Committee's decision.
In the event that an applicant does not know any Club members to act as referees, the General Committee will convene with the applicant on at least one occasion prior to making a decision regarding the application.
Current Fees and Subscriptions.
Membership subscriptions are due on or before 1st May each year. Currently, New members currently pay a fee of £590. This includes both a new membership joining fee of £195 and an annual subscription fee of £425. Thereafter, only the rebated annual subscription fee is applicable (currently £365).
Note: Annual subscriptions are not adjusted for those who wish to join after May 1st. The full fee of £590 is levied on all applicants irrespective of the time of year they apply/are approved for membership.
- Immediate family members over the age of 25, who wish to use the Club facilities, can join for a fee equivalent to the current rebated annual subscription (the new members fee of £195 is waived).
- All co-owners of any vessel at RCC must also be members of the Club.
- Outport membership is available (subject to provisions).
- Transition Membership is a temporary membership class available to those non-members who purchase vessels from existing club members. It is only available by application for a maximum of 8 months in the off season (between September and the following April) to facilitate any maintenance and/or remedial preparation of the purchased vessel. In addition, any storage of the vessel ashore will be subject to the normal storage charges in force.
- RCC do not offer student, crew or pensioner categories.
General Rules
Non-members, extended family members and guests or friends of RCC members, are not permitted to visit the Club or use any of the facilities without the said RCC member being present.
Children under 18 years of age must be supervised at all times.
Winter Storage Provision
Winter storage covers the period October to May each year. No boats will be approved for storage until the boat park convenor receives an on-line application form indicating that insurance is in place and all outstanding fees have been paid. Any vessel still on the hard standing after launch day (typically, mid-May) will incur a weekly charge. Winter storage fees are paid in advance (invoices are raised in October before each winter storage period and must be paid prior to hauling out).
The Club cannot guarantee a winter storage space for every applicant each season. In the event that the number of applications for winter storage exceeds the capacity of the boatyard, priority will be given on a first come basis for application forms. To date, this situation has never arisen.
Summer Storage of Boats and Trailers
Summer storage covers the period June to Sept each year. Members who launch their vessels during the summer do not pay summer storage fees for their trailers. Members who do not launch their vessel during the summer will incur a summer storage fee equal to the winter storage fee quoted above.
Unused trailers stored at the Club will be invoiced for both the winter and summer storage periods.
The rates for both winter and summer storage for boats and trailers are calculated on the footprint area of the boat or trailer. Winter and summer boat storage is currently charged at the rate of £0.70/sq ft.
Electricity and Water Provision in the Boat Park
Ten pedestals (40 outlets) provide both water and electricity in the boat yard. All members wishing use electricity must use a metered cable. Start Meter readings are submitted to the boat park convenor via the Members Portal on the website (ringhaddy.cc) at the start of the Storage Period and the End Meter reading is added in the same manner before Launch Day each year.
Invoices are issued (covering the previous summer and current winter storage charges and any electricity charges) at the end of June each year.
Electricity usage is currently charged at £0.40/unit.
General Facilities
Although RCC has no Club House or Bar, showering facilities are available for members, guests and visitors.
There is a shed for storage of members' outboards and dinghy sundries only. Storage of fuel in the engine shed is strictly prohibited.
The Club's pontoons are for storage of tenders and short-term storage of members vessels for loading/unloading, etc. Members are not permitted to leave/store vessels unattended on the pontoons for extended periods without prior permission from the General Committee. Able-bodied members are encouraged to launch and retrieve dinghies from the dinghy park area of the boat yard via the slip/dinghy channel.
Shore power is available on the pontoons via several power pedestals (cards can be purchased from the boat park convenor).
In addition, there is one set of drying-out posts adjacent to the slipway.
Note: As required by the Club Rules & Bye Laws, all members must carry the appropriate level of insurance for any vessels, vehicles, trailers and equipment brought to or stored at the Club. Also, it is the sole responsibility of all members to ensure that any contractor they employ carries the necessary level of insurance. By registering with and payment of any/all fees via the Club website, each member confirms that they carry the necessary level of insurance (a minimum of £2 million Third Party indemnity).
